• Catch of the Day Spring Tablescape

March 31, 2020

I was so excited to create this tablescape around some cool vintage fish plates I received as a gift! They came from Prize Home & Garden, in the West Bottoms of Kansas City. This store is a must-see when you go antiquing in town. Everything in the store is a special find with lots of texture, style and charm.

I used two chargers on the table, with the solid wood one being from Pryde's Kitchen and Necessities, one of my favorite Kansas City stores of all time, and a real shopping landmark. I go there every time I need something for entertaining and they greet me with a cup of hot coffee and the best customer service in town.  My sister and I joke that we go there when we are having a bad day, but it's not really a joke! This place really is a destination that literally has everything and makes your day happier. The larger plate is a vintage enamelware pattern we got at a tag sale years ago.

I even used a fishing creel as a holder for the centerpiece.  Nell Hills was selling these last year, and I knew it would come in handy.

A fire in the fireplace is the finishing touch to our table setting.  Our family loves to eat on our screened in porch all year long.  The fireplace is always going with glassed in sides in the room in the winter and screens in the summer.
